About the event
Saeculum Aureum is joining the Cathedral Consort as soloists and choir members for this performance of Johann David Heinichen's Requiem in E-flat, accompanied by an orchestra of local musicians. Overshadowed by his contemporary, J.S. Bach, much of Heinichen's work as both a composer and a theorist is often overlooked, in spite of references to him as a distinguished composer in contemporary literature and his appointment as Royal-Polish and Electoral-Saxon Kapellmeister to the Dresden Court in 1716.
This performance is part of the service for the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed, which occurs on the 24th Sunday After Pentecost in the Liturgical Calendar.
