Heinichen Requiem

Saeculum Aureum, the Cathedral Consort and a small orchestra of local musicians performed Johann David Heinichen's Requiem in E-flat as part of the service for the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed on the 24th Sunday After Pentecost.

Saeculum Aureum Joined the Cathedral Consort as soloists and choir members for this performance of Johann David Heinichen's Requiem in E-flat, accompanied by an orchestra of local musicians. Overshadowed by his contemporary, J.S. Bach, much of Heinichen's work as both a composer and a theorist is often overlooked, in spite of references to him as a distinguished composer in contemporary literature and his appointment as Royal-Polish and Electoral-Saxon Kapellmeister to the Dresden Court in 1716.
